Theme Tunes….and storage for musical instruments….

Being a musician I often hear songs on the radio, and think what a good song to cover in my band, and it got me thinking about a theme tune for our storage company here at Arrows….and then out of the blue, good old Radio Two came up with my answer. The Travelling Wilbury’s, what a great band, sadly we have lost the Big O and George H, but a great theme tune for us would be their track ‘Cool Dry Place’. I will probably get in trouble if I quote all the lyrics but here’s just a sample….’Some have sentimental value that, Cannot be erased, Go store it in a cool dry place’ ….and then the lyric goes onto ‘We got solids and acoustics,And some from flowered board,And some are trimmed in leather,And some are made with gourds,There’s organs and trombones,And reverbs we can use,Lots of dx-7s….’

Well, that got me thinking about having a room to store musical instruments and amplifiers etc. As it would be a communial room to make it cost effective, it would need to be managed very carefully, but let’s put it out there….as a musician myself, I can see the value in providing this kind of service….what do you think ???

Interesting article in the Mail today, Saturday 5th May, telling all to clean up the country for the Queen’s bash next month. So why don’t we all do our own bit of cleaning and sorting and get some space into our lives, after all who are the Queen bees of our own houses…..probably the wifes, hey and remember that great song by Queen…I Want To Break Free, with Freddie and the boys all dressed up as girlies….hilarious….. and why not store your unwanteds into the storage units at Arrows in Bletchley, Milton Keynes. Personal and house clearances ….

There are times in all of our lives we will have to face a task we probably never want to have to ….the loss of a family member. This was bought home to me this last week, when one of members of staff here at Arrows lost his mother-in-law. Having lost my father-in-law a few years ago and watched my wife’s mother finding it so hard to deal with the aftermath, I have immense sympathy with anybody having to go through this traumatic time. Having to cope with the funeral is bad enough, but then comes the personal and/or house clearance that follows. What do you do ? It’s a difficult time, and probably not the best, to have to deal with the added trauma going through all the memories and momentos. There is of course an option of putting things into storage and putting off the inevitable until you’ve had some time to get over the loss and find it easier to deal with the issue….and sometimes it’s better just to do it and get it over with…

Watchdog : Storage and Security

I am sure that plenty of our customers and potential customers saw the Watchdog programme on BBC1 on the 15th March relating to the issue of ‘how secure is your storage‘ and the burglaries suffered by one of our competitors in Ruislip. The issues raised were ones which Arrows have no major issues with : our storage facilities and offices to rent are NOT 24/7 …we realised many years ago that there would be issues with unmanned sites, and therefore, even when we reviewed this again this year we decided to maintain our very extensive opening hours rather than go to 24/7. All our storage units are individually alarmed, with keypad entry, so we know who is on site at any given time, and this is recorded. The whole storage company is locked down at night, with each access door alarmed and monitored. You can rest easy.

Not many of you might know this, but Arrows Self Storage in Bletchley used to be a F1 team headquarters long before Milton Keynes became the centre for Red Bull’s amazing success ! After the team folded the building (where we still house a car) was converted into storage units and became the first storage Milton Keynes. Going Green ?? Solar Panels and Loft Insulation Offer :

We hear so much from the government banging on about how we need to go ‘green’ and how good it is for the environment and reduces global warming, that I was intrigued to get a call a couple of years ago offering a very good discount to get my cavity wall insulation done at half the normal cost as they were giving grants to do this. I did. Late last year I had another call saying pretty much the same thing, but this time they were offering discounts to get loft insulation done. Well I laughed because I have so much junk in my loft it probably is as well insulated as it could be. However it got me thinking, if you were serious about getting your loft insulated or having solar panels fitted, and you did need to clear your loft while the work was being done, why not stick your contents into storage ? It would be a week or two at the very most and wouldn’t cost the earth either (unintended pun…)

So my offer to you is this : obviously you need to prove you are having this work done, so do that and we will discount our storage rate by 10%
